Welcome to Playing Through’s daily ritual — Golf Talk Today.
Each day, the crew will discuss various elements of the PGA Tour, LPGA, LIV Golf, and more.
Let’s look at the latest FedEx Cup Fall standings after Kevin Yu won the Sanderson Farms Championship, which marked his very first PGA Tour victory. It got him into the opening tournament of the season, The Sentry, the first Signature Event.
He joins Patton Kizzire, who won the Procore Championship, the first FedEx Cup Fall event.
The win also vaulted him from No. 96 to No. 60 in the standings, meaning he has a strong possibility of getting into the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational (the first two Signature Events after the Sentry).
Now that the Presidents Cup is over, the FedEx Cup Fall series will continue for six weeks until the end of the RSM Classic Nov. 18-24. Who will be the next guy to get into the Sentry and possibly more?
What is the FedEx Cup Fall?
For those who do not know, the FedEx Cup Fall is a series of tournaments that allow players ranked No. 51 or lower a chance to earn more points, and potentially Signature Event starts.
If they are not qualified, players ranked No. 51-60 at the end of the Fall series will get a start in the first two Signature Events of 2025 after The Sentry.
The players ranked through No. 70 at the start of the fall already clinched their spot in the Top 125. However, getting inside those Signature Events means a shot at more FedEx Cup points in 2025.
As we saw in 2024, points earned in elevated events carry a lot of weight by the time the playoffs arrive.
How many FedEx Cup Fall events are there?
There are six FedEx Cup Fall events remaining. Here they are:
— Black Desert Championship: Oct. 7-13
— Shriners Children’s Open: Oct. 14-26
— Zozo Championship: Oct. 21-27
— World Wide Technology Championship: Nov. 4-10
— Butterfield Bermuda Championship: Nov. 11-17
— The RSM Classic: Nov. 18-24
