Chefs Eric Baker and David Bouhadana Establish AlleyCat in Boca Raton

Esteemed Chefs Eric Baker and David Bouhadana, founders of Sushi by Bou and Sunset Sushi, are introducing AlleyCat to the Boca Raton restaurant scene. The new dining destination is dedicated to Japanese izakaya and the art of sushi, omakase, Sakaduri and a fun new catering concept they call “Homakase”.

The collaboration of the two innovative chefs at AlleyCat highlights their creativity and expertise in Japanese culinary traditions. Baker, known for his mastery of izakaya-style dining fused with a French culinary background, offers years of experience creating vibrant, flavorful dishes that capture the essence of Japanese comfort food with a unique twist.

Chef Bouhadana is well-known for his precise and dedicated approach to omakase and sushi. He has built a loyal following due to his commitment to using the finest ingredients and his popular “Tuna Tuesdays” events, which feature high-energy nights with a live DJ playing Studio 54-themed disco beats. These events attract many guests eager to witness the “art of Sakuduri,” which involves the deconstruction of a 200+ pound tuna in front of an audience.

“We are thrilled to introduce the new AlleyCat to East Boca Raton,” says Baker. “It represents our shared passion for authenticity and innovation in Japanese cuisine.”

AlleyCat, located in the heart of east Boca Raton, offers a unique dining experience where traditional Japanese and Asian flavors are combined with modern culinary techniques. Guests can look forward to a thoughtfully crafted, dual chef-driven menu that blends izakaya dishes by Chef Eric Baker with Chef Bouhadana’s renowned omakase selections and sushi creations.

“AlleyCat embodies our dedication to Japanese culinary excellence with a fun, modern twist,” says Bouhadana. “We invite guests to join us on this unique culinary journey and the multitude of diverse dining experiences that we are now able to offer our guests.”

The name AlleyCat embodies the restaurant’s sense of adventure. It encourages guests to embark on distinct culinary journeys through the restaurant’s diverse spaces, accompanied by Japanese flavors. The atmosphere combines contemporary elegance with elements of traditional Japanese design, providing a welcoming environment for both intimate dining and lively gatherings.

At AlleyCat, Chef Baker offers a traditional Izakaya and sushi menu. Guests looking for an omakase experience can reserve in advance at Sunset Sushi next door. The two spaces are connected through the kitchen, providing access to the Sunset Sushi Omakase experience. Chef Eric Baker introduces his twist to traditional omakase on select Tuesday nights with a ticketed dining experience called “Chef Eric Baker’s Counter.” Here, guests can make reservations for an intimate 12-seat curated 15-course tasting menu, which beautifully blends Japanese and French cuisine. Additionally, tuna-cutting ticket events are held once a month by advance invitation.
AlleyCat at Sunset Sushi made a grand entrance in May as a unique dining experience with a lavish Tuna Tuesday event. Sunset Sushi officially took up Omakase residency in April. AlleyCat has unveiled a fresh menu along with a new lineup of weekly offerings for a variety of dining experiences, such as Tokyo Taco Tuesdays, Daily Happy Hour, Highballs & Handrolls Thursdays and $5 Anytime handcrafted Lychee Martinis (Sunday – Thursday). Additionally, they now feature Homakase and omakase offerings and the popular Tuna Tuesday events once a month. Furthermore, AlleyCat has introduced “Meow-tastic Mondays,” a series on their Instagram channel @alleycatboca where Chef Baker demonstrates his latest signature creations.
