Eden V Shipwreck in Lesina Marina, Italy

Eden V, also known by the name “Etsuyo Maru” was a cargo ship built by the japanese Shikoku Dockyard in the year 1968. On December 16th, 1988 it grounded on the coast near Lesina Marina, despite not having sent a mayday call. The shipwreck has been left to rot for several decades, reportedly containing toxic and radioactive material. Only in 2014, local authorities had large parts of the wreck dismantled. To this day, the bottom of the hull is still stuck in the sand, giving an idea of the ships size. The circumstances of the wrecking have never been clarified.
