1. The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans the Golden Gate Strait in San Francisco Bay, United States, connecting the city of San Francisco to Marin County.
2. The Golden Gate Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the world, with a main span of 4,200 feet.
3. The bridge is painted in a distinctive international orange color, chosen by consulting architect Irving Morrow, to blend with the nearby hills and contrast with the ocean and sky.
4. During the bridge’s construction, safety were installed under the main cables to catch falling workers, and the nets saved the lives of 19 men.
5. The Golden Gate Bridge was designed by chief engineer Joseph Strauss and engineered by Leon Moisseiff and Charles Ellis.

6. The bridge was considered an engineering marvel when it was completed in 1937 because of the difficulty of putting a bridge across such a large and turbulent space.
7. The bridge has been called the “most photographed bridge” in the world and has become an iconic symbol of San Francisco and the United States.
