H03 Knob on Half Moon by Civilian for Bankston Architectural

Dezeen Showroom: architectural hardware is elevated with a bold mix of materials and shapes in the H03 Knob on Half Moon, created by US studio Civilian for Australian brand Bankston Architectural.

The H03 Knob on Half Moon has the same domed door knob design that features throughout Bankston’s Hemispheres collection, with the addition of a semicircular backplate.

The piece contrasts standard, unornamented hardware – the combination of rounded and flat forms channels what Bankston considers an “organic yet industrial art deco aesthetic”.

Above all, the hardware creates an opportunity to add visual appeal by juxtaposing materials such as stone, timber and metal.

Materials like timber and polished metal can be combined

Polished chrome, smooth nickel plating and bone-coloured, powder-coated brass are all material possibilities for both the base and dome, while the dome can also be specified in a sealed Portoro Gold marble or American walnut wood.

“This collaboration epitomises a vision for innovative design in the finishing touches that connect individuals to their space,” said Bankston Architectural co-CEO Emily Bradley.
