Kids of all ages, and adults, will love making these colorful and cute handmade Valentine’s day cards. Give them to family, friends, and loved ones. You can make these watercolor handmade Valentine’s cards at home or in the classroom.

You can buy your own Valentine’s day cards or you can make your own. While there are some cute ones you can buy, we really enjoy making our own. There is something so personal about a handmade card for Valentine’s day.

Kids can explore colors, practice fine motor skills, and learn about kindness by making their very own handmade Valentines cards. It’s easy, fun, simple, and festive! It is the perfect Valentine’s day craft.

How To Make A Handmade Valentines Day Card

Step 1

Fold your toilet paper roll to look like a heart.

Fold your toilet paper tube to look like a heart.

Step 2

Dip your toilet paper roll heart in red paint and stamp it on your paper.

Dip your heart in red acrylic paint and stamp it on the card.

Craft Notes:

When making your handmade Valentines cards, you can use any colors you want!

Step 3

Fill the heart in with water color.

Use your red water color to paint in the red heart.

Blend the acrylic and water color paints together. Let your heart dry and repeat 2 more times.

While you’re filling in the heart go ahead and pull some of the red acrylic around the edge. Allow to dry.

Step 4

Do this 3 more times.

Now write Happy Valentine’s day. We wrote 1 card in cursive and another in print.

How To Make These Homemade Valentines Cards Your Own

You can make this Valentines day your own by making simple changes like:

  • Instead of hearts use lips, gifts, roses, love bugs, etc. It’s your DIY Valentine’s day cards, make the pictures your own.
  • Don’t paint the picture, use stickers.
  • Add glitter around the hearts using glue and glitter.
  • You can add even more heart shape balloons.
  • Add a small ribbon around the bottom of the balloons.
  • You can use twine for the strings.
  • Use buttons instead of painting balloons.
  • Or round candy!
  • Make Valentine’s hearts and write things in them like: Love you, you’re cool, etc.
  • You could make brown chocolate hearts.

Our Experience With This Creative Valentine’s Day Card

We love Valentine’s day crafts and this year we decided to make our own Valentine’s day cards. We can give these cards to loved ones, friends, family, teachers.

Both, my young and older kids, were able to make this Valentine’s heart card. They turned out very different, but each card is super special! I hope your family has as much family as mine did making these homemade Valentine’s cards.

Materials

  • Toilet Paper Roll
  • Notes With Envelopes
  • Water Colors
  • Red Acrylic Paint
  • Paint Pen

Instructions

  1. Fold your toilet paper tube to look like a heart.
  2. Dip your heart in red acrylic paint and stamp it on the card.
  3. Use your red water color to paint in the red heart.
  4. While you’re filling in the heart go ahead and pull some of the red acrylic around the edge. Allow to dry.
  5. Do this 3 more times.
  6. Add white shine to your heart balloons.
  7. Add black strings.
  8. Now write Happy Valentine’s day. We wrote 1 card in cursive and another in print.
