Inverkeithing Parish Church, of patron Saint Peter, is an impressive Gothic Church that dates back to 1244. Inside contains items of historic importance – a font given by the Queen of Scotland in the 14th Century, and beautiful stained glass.
Christianity was first brought to Inverkeithing around 700 by Erat, a follower of St. Ninian. Ninian had originally brought Christianity to the Scottish mainland after Viking rule. The church door commemorates this with a plaque that reads, “On this hillside St. Erat first preached the Gospel.”
The church grounds feature a peaceful graveyard and a war memorial gardens for those of the town who died during the First and Second World Wars.
