Only a week left to enter Dezeen and Forbo Flooring's Marmoleum Design Challenge

There is just one week left to enter our Marmoleum Design Challenge with Forbo Flooring, which invites architects and designers to create a wellbeing space using Marmoleum. Enter before 30 April.

The Marmoleum Design Challenge is a global competition that tasks entrants with creating a small space that can provide respite and enhance wellbeing.

The space should be designed to be installed in environments such as schools, offices or hospitals – anywhere where you can play, learn, work or heal. Residential applications are excluded.

The contest, which is in partnership with Forbo Flooring, is free to enter for anyone over the age of 18 working in or studying architecture or design, from any country around the world.

The winner will receive a £5,000 cash prize, as well as having their design realised in collaboration with Forbo Flooring and exhibited in the brand’s showroom in the Netherlands.

The winner will also receive significant exposure through the publication of the winning project on Dezeen and its social media channels, as well as via Forbo Flooring’s various social media channels worldwide.

In addition, they will be invited to attend the launch event in the Netherlands, with the opportunity to meet members of the jury and Forbo Flooring.

Entries will be assessed by expert panel of judges

The competition entries will be assessed by a panel of judges made up of designers and experts including interior designer Ilse Crawford, HOK senior interior designer Christine Vandover and Studiopepe co-founders Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto.

The judges will be joined by Dezeen editorial director Max Fraser and Forbo Flooring linoleum senior designer Tamar Gaylord.

The best proposals selected by the judges will be revealed in May with the final result announced in June 2024.

How to enter

Entrants are tasked with designing a 10-square-metre space that can enhance wellbeing by providing a space for relaxation and rejuvenation.

The design must make use of Forbo Flooring’s Marmoleum as flooring and should be realistic and feasible to construct.

Contestants must produce visualisations depicting their concepts, including a material mood board, along with supporting text to describe their idea explaining how it meets the brief.

The Marmoleum Design Challenge closes for entries at 23:59 CEST (Central European Summer Time) on 30 April 2024.
