Supplies you need for Sunflower Art
Steps to make Sunflower Handprint art
The first step: Creating the background and base
With your large roll of paper, use the green and brown paint to paint a stem and circle for seeds. If you would like to make this a more hands on activity you can create the seeds with thumbprints. If you would like too you can also create a background before you paint on the stem and seeds of the flower.
Next: add the sunflower pettals
Now for the fun part! Paint everyone’s hands with yellow, red, or orange paint, then you place it around the seeds of the sunflower! You can do this one at a time or everyone at once depending on your preferences. Place each hand facing outward from the center of the flower. Another way you can do this is by having the fingers pointing towards the flower but keep your fingers together instead of spreading them out if you prefer it that way. It may be easier if everyone is adding their petal at the same time to have the fingers pointing inward towards the center of the flower.
Finally: Create leaves and let dry!
The last step to creating this sunflower painting is adding any final touches you want, letting it dry, and hanging it up! You can use markers to decorate the petals with names or tracing the petals. You could also use extra green paint to create leaves to represent the adults with their handprints!
