Week 6 NFL Survivor pool strategy with safe, value, trap picks

One would think eventually things would settle down in the NFL. And yet, after five weeks, chaos remains the norm. Every week, the most popular pick in a sizable percentage of Survivor pools has been knocked off. This week, the Seahawks lost to the Giants and the 49ers lost to the Cardinals. One or the other was likely the most popular pick in your Survivor pool this week.

Week 6 is upon us and we’re back once again with four more teams on bye. This weekend, the Chiefs, Rams, Dolphins, and Vikings are all getting time off. Kansas City and Minnesota are both likely Survivor picks in the coming weeks, but you’ll have to find some other options in the meantime.

I struck out in a big way in last week’s Survivor advice column, missing both my safe picks and also suggesting folks stay away from the Bears. But, in my double elimination pool I still have one entry left! And so, I’m back with more picks for Week 6. There are plenty of options to consider and every week this season we’ll be breaking down the safest picks, the best value picks, and the potential trap picks.

Safest picks

Eagles over Browns
Texans over Patriots

These are going to be the two of the most popular picks, with either likely leading the way in most pools. If the first five weeks hold, that means one or both of these favorites are going to lose. The Eagles are playing at home, so I would lean them if you’re looking for a safe pick. But, buyer beware.

Best value picks

Packers over Cardinals

Arizona is dangerous, but they’ve been very hit or miss. They stunned the 49ers on the road, but lost badly at home to the Commanders. You could save Green Bay for Week 13 vs. Miami, but Tua Tagovailoa could be playing again. Otherwise, they don’t have a lot of future value.

Trap picks

Falcons over Panthers

I thought about including them in the safest picks, but Atlanta on the road against a funky Carolina team? No thanks. Of course, watch both safe picks lose and this one win!
