Wild duck distracts Panthers as Bucs block punt for a touchdown

Tactical duck deployment has been engaged.

With the Carolina Panthers set to punt late in the third quarter of a blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Bucs sent out the latest development in football deception.

A stray duck in the middle of the game, leading into a blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown by the Bucs.

I honestly thought they would stop the game to get the duck off the field, but the whiplash of going from this duck on screen to Panthers punter Johnny Hekker on the ground as the ball gets run into the end zone is why I’ll never quit on this sport. Where else are you going to find duck distractions as special teams make special plays in a big game? Nowhere, that’s the answer.

The duck also made a second appearance as he was being escorted off the premises, but look at the athleticism here, folks. This is what elite athleticism looks like. The Panthers should’ve used this duck on defense today.

Speaking of ducks that confused the Panthers today, former Oregon Duck and current Bucs RB Bucky Irving ran for 113 yards and caught three passes for 77 yards as the Bucs beat the Panthers 48-14.

Real good day to be a Duck against the Panthers, huh?
